More from Tom's Aquarium |
Three Beacon Plecostomus L091 |
In the video, shown above, you can see Tom's catfish that lives in an aquarium with about 20 Mbuna Cichlids. This catfish was called L091 for a while, before it was given the scientific name Leporacanthicus triactis. The catfish in the genus Leporacanthicus are sometimes called Vampire Plecos, because they have long front teeth. But they use these teeth to eat snails and freshwater sponges not to suck blood! In this video you can see this catfish wave its tail at an Mbuna. The top edge of its tail is covered with spikes and looks like an effective weapon, as shown below. This fish hides in the same ceramic ornament most of the day and rare comes out. You are welcome to call during any show and ask question about this fish or call and talk about your fish. |
